Ahmadinejad Meets America

25 September 2007

ahmadinejad.jpgIn a heavily secured room at Columbia University in front of 700 plus people, 80% students at Columbia, the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met his match. Despite knowing that he would be bombarded with criticism from all sides, he came to convince Americans that his country is not building nuclear weapons and that there is no reason for the two countries to go to war.

Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, tried to stave off the criticism the University has been receiving for giving Ahmadinejad a forum, by introducing the Iranian President as a ” petty and cruel dictator” and calling him “brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated” for his comments on denying the Holocaust ever happened.

When asked about his comments on the Holocaust, he toned down the rhetoric he would use at home and answered that “his concern were the Palestinians”

He was criticized on his Human Rights record, the persecution of gays, women’s rights, among other matters. But, he also criticized back, on the “discourteous introduction”, Isreal’s role with neighboring countries and how the USA tries to “manage the world”
