Argentina And US in Parallel Universes
As if in parallel universes, Argentina and the US are having elections and current and former First Ladies are front runners in the race for President.
In Argentina: Cristina Fernandez Kirshner, wife to current President Nestor Kirshner is currently a Senator and close adviser to the president, and a lawyer. Nestor Kirshner managed to get Argentina out of a crisis in 2001 and popular support for him is transferring to her. “Queen Cristina” as the opposition calls her, is criticized for not having a platform, not stating what she stands for, just running on the vapors of her husband the president. Running as Pro-Poor and a Populist within the Peronist Party, she is criticized for wearing designer suits to slum campaigns rallies and also compared to the likes of Evita. It will likely be the poor who vote her in.
In the US: Hillary Clinton, also known as “Billary” by her opposition, is also a Senator and wife of a former president, and a lawyer. Hillary has to contend with “Style” criticizing of her own like the shock over showing her cleavage. But Hillary’s voters will likely be of a different class.
