Myanmar Protesters Shot Down
After 10 days of protests against the military government of Myanmar formerly known as Burma, the protesters including thousands of Buddhist monks, continued to go strong.
This makes the second day that the military government has ordered their troops to fire upon the protesters. They have also reportedly raided many monasteries, beaten up and arrested some of the monks. According to the military spokesman 9 civilians have been killed,11 injured and 31 soldiers were also injured. Of course those figures have to be taken with a big grain of salt.
Kenji Nagai of the Japanese Video News Agency APF News was reported among those dead. The Japanese Government is understandably upset over the death of the journalist and has promised to lodge a formal complaint against the government of Myanmar. Also among those struck down today some reports include Monks. This could mean even more public outrage since the Monks are so revered.
