On the Road Again…
This time in Madrid, the capital of Spain. Also the largest city in Spain. If you’ve never been, you have to go at least once in your life. It’s one of those places not to be missed.
While an up to date and modern city it also sports the charm of yesteryear, with it’s historic neighborhoods throughout and with landmarks such as the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Teatro Real with it’s restored Opera House from the 1850’s. It’s most famous park completely surrounded by Madrid is the Parque del Buen Retiro dating back to the 1620’s, land originally given to Phillip IV for the courts recreational use. History abounds here, if you are a history buff you’ll be in seventh heaven.
There are a myriad of cultural activities to be absorbed. Galleries, Museums, Art and Literature study centers,Symphony and Opera, historical Landmarks, Bullfighting and local fare. Just walking around looking at the architecture is a treat in itself. If you are a soccer fan you will find some of the best soccer in Europe here.
To get there is easy, there is a major international airport in the city called Barrjas International Airport, with flights from all over the world. Their main airline is called Iberia Airlines.
To get around Madrid is even easier, you have your choice of the National rail system that runs through Madrid or the Madrid Metro known as one of the most extensive metro systems in the world.
