The Wall Street Journal changes hands
Rupert Murdoch buys out Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones & Co. for a cool $5 billion dollars.
Previously controlled by the Bancroft Family for generations, some members of the family were reticent to sell to Murdoch , but he must have made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
It will be interesting to watch the development of the Wall Street Journal under Murdoch, as there is already turmoil in the ranks. Two Board Directors have already quit and the Reporter’s Union has publicly objected to Murdoch’s takeover, as they feel that Murdoch will interfere with the integrity of the reporting.
